Last week we got rain and it coated everything with ice. All of the tree branches, weeds, bushes and blades of grass visible, were coated in a thin clear glistening layer of ice for two days. It was beautiful, absolutely beautiful! When the sunlight hit the tree branches covered in ice the tree looked like it was covered in lights. Anyway, during this time I made it outside with the camera and managed to take some pictures and now I am going to share them with you!
As I mentioned in my Goodbye 2019 post I love music, singing and listening to music. Every month or so I come up with a playlist for myself and like I have a couple of other times, I decided to share a version of my January playlist with you all. So let’s get started!
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted. I miss blogging every week, but as I am sure my fellow bloggers understand, life gets in the way. I have a few posts that I am looking forward to writing and posting, so hopefully I’ll be back soon.
We got our first real snow a couple days ago! It’s beautiful and cold. I’ve taken a few pictures but not nearly enough. 😀
I bet you weren’t expecting to hear from me so soon, but here I am, and jumping right into my post as always. I don’t really see the point of long intros, especially if you aren’t good at writing them. 😀
Two things that I have done quite a bit of this summer are, taking pictures of nature and listening to music. So why not put together a post with both. I thought that instead of just doing another summer playlist, I would focus on both my photography and the music I am enjoying. I will admit though that even this isn’t exactly original, but I’m still having fun putting this together so……………..here you go.

What are some songs that you have on repeat right now? Have you heard any of these songs? Do you have a favorite picture?
Recently in my health class we were learning about our senses, a bit more in depth then what we all learned in kindergarten. I found it really interesting so I decided to write this post. (Also it makes my mom really happy that I am posting something I learned in school.) 😀
I am also including in this post some pictures that I took when I went on a snowy walk the other day.
SIGHT
I think that our sight is probably the most important sense. Almost everything we do uses our eyes in some capacity. We base so much off of what we see.
The thing that I found most interesting about our eyes was learning that we actually cry more then one type of tear! The make up of tears that we cry when in pain is different from when we cry emotional tears! Isn’t that amazing? I had no idea.
I know some people seem to feel better after crying (personally I don’t, but you might) and I was really surprised to learn that there is a reason that they feel better. The chemicals and hormones in tears actually make them feel better! After learning that I guess that I need to be more understanding of people in my life who cry much more frequently then I do.
The other thing that we talked about was the importance of guarding our eyes, being careful about what we watch, read and look at. My parents have always really stressed the importance of this, and I still forget sometimes. So I thought I would remind all of you as well! Be careful that you only use your eyes in ways that are pleasing to the Lord!!!
HEARING
Our ears are incredible and the things that our brains and ears work together to produce are wonderful. When you actually take a couple minutes to think about all the different sounds that you recognize, wind, rain, bells, footsteps, creaking, hearts beating, throats clearing, voices, the list just goes on and on, you will be blown away!! At least I know I was.
I learned that our ears have 20,000 fibers that are quite a bit like piano strings! A piano has only 80 strings and think about all the sounds it can make! With 20,000 strings the possibilities for sound are practically endless.
I think that we don’t appreciate our hearing like we should, we just take it for granted. Recently I have come to appreciate my hearing more after reading Eleanor’s recent posts. It made me think about what I would do if I lost my hearing and how I would react. Spending time thinking about this has made me admire Eleanor more and really reminded me how thankful I should be for my hearing.
So next time you are listening to music or just using your ears (I know we are constantly using our ears, but still), think of Eleanor and others who cannot hear and remember to be thankful for your hearing!!!
TASTE
I love food, absolutely love it. I love buying the things that go into it at farmers markets (whatever we don’t produce ourselves), I love cooking it and then I love enjoying it and watching my family enjoy it. I’m really not sure that life would be worth living without being able taste food, especially chocolate. 😀
I thought that it was really interesting that when you are born you have 10,000 taste buds! They decrease and condense as you get older.
As I am sure you have noticed, when you eat and are stressed or nervous or scared everything seems to taste the same. I was surprised to learn that your saliva changes when you are scared, stressed or nervous and that it blocks the openings to your taste buds!
I know that this only covers the first three senses, I am probably going to do apart two at some point.
I hope that you enjoyed reading this post as much as I enjoyed writing it!
Which sense do you think is the most important? Or do you think they are all equally important? If you could only pick one sense to keep which would it be? If you had to choose one sense to give up, what would it be?

I hope you all enjoyed this post! What did you think of our answers to the questions? Feel free to answer any of these questions in the comments!
This week we don’t have a weekly verse, my mom decided that it wasn’t realistic to try to memorize a new verse this week, because I don’t know about you, but we are going semi-crazy getting ready for Christmas. I have no idea how I am going to have everything done in time! Every time I finish a project I feel so much closer to being done, until I think about what I still have left.
I wanted to share several of my favorite Christmas carols, so here you go!
Oh holy night, the stars are brightly shining It is the night of our dear Savior’s birth Long lay the world, in sin and error pining Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth
A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices For yonder breaks, a new and glorious morn Fall on your knees, oh hear the angel voices Oh night divine, oh night, when Christ was born Oh night divine, oh night, oh night divine
Truly He taught us to love one another His law is love and His gospel is peace Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother And in His name, all oppression shall cease
Sweet hymns of joy, in grateful chorus raise we Let all within us praise His holy name Fall on your knees, oh hear the angel voices Oh night divine, oh night, when Christ was born Oh night divine, oh night, oh night divine
Christ is the Lord, O praise His name forever His pow’r and glory evermore proclaim Fall on your knees, oh hear the angel voices Oh night divine, oh night, when Christ was born Oh night divine, oh night, oh night divine
I LOVE O Holy Night! It might be my absolute favorite Christmas carol! So putting my favorite Christmas carol and my one of my favorite singer together is just amazing!
Our nativity set or as my little sister calls it our “activity set”.
Oh Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder Thy power throughout, the universe displayed
Then sings my soul, my Savior, God, to Thee How great Thou art (how great Thou art) How great Thou art (how great Thou art) Then sings my soul, my Savior, God, to Thee, oh to Thee How great Thou art (how great Thou art) How great Thou art
When through the woods oh, and forest glades I wander And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur And hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze
Then sings my soul, my Savior, God, to Thee (then sings my soul) How great Thou art (how great Thou art) How great Thou art (how great Thou art) Then sings my soul, my Savior, God, to Thee How great Thou art (how great Thou art) How great Thou art (Great Thou art)
When Christ shall come With shouts of acclamation And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart (shall fill my heart) Then I shall bow In humble adoration (adoration) And then proclaim, “My God, how great Thou art”
Then sings my soul, my Savior, God, to Thee How great Thou art (How great Thou art) How great Thou art (How great Thou art) Then sings my soul, my Savior, God, to Thee How great Thou art How great Thou art How great Thou art How great Thou art
I love Pentatonix and especially this song!
Well, I guess that is all for this post! I am not exactly sure when I will be posting next other then my BIBPC #6 picture for this week, but I should be posting again soon!
What is your favorite Christmas carol? Do you have a favorite Christmas album?
Happy Thanksgiving (a few days late)!! I want to share some of the things I am Thankful for this year! Without further ado, here you go! 😀
MUSIC:
I am so Thankful for music! Music is so amazing, I listen to music almost constantly, either on our family computer or on my phone while I am doing school. I don’t know how people lived before they could listen to music at home! 😀
Some of the songs I have had on repeat recently are:
I LOVE reading so much! Sometimes I think that without books I would go crazy. Books are such a gift from God! I am so glad that there are many talented people who love to write and are willing to share their stories with us! I am so Thankful for our wonderful library system that makes it possible for me to get new books to read regularly.
Several of the books/series I have really enjoyed this school recently are:
All the books that I currently have out of the library.😀
MY FRIENDS:
I have a couple of amazing friends who I have gotten to know better this year. I have been pen-pals with one of them for several years, but this year we have gotten very close! The other friend I am thinking of I have known (sort of known of) since kindergarten when we did homeschool stuff together. For a long time our families didn’t do anything together, but last year and this year we started doing things together, again. I have really enjoyed getting to know this friend!
You two know who you are (at least I hope you do!)! I am so Thankful to have you as apart of my life! Thank you for being my friends!
Another friend who I am Thankful for is someone who is like an older sister to me! Thank you for all the letters you write me and everything!! I am so Thankful for you!
Isn’t this great? I saw it somewhere and I just had to repost it. Some friends and one of my amazing sisters.
MY FAMILY:
I am so blessed to have the amazing family that I have! I so admire my parents and I am so Thankful that I am their daughter! I am so Thankful for every single one of my wonderful siblings! I love you guys!
I am also so blessed to have my grandparents be in my life so much! I am so Thankful for my amazing Tia! They are all such a blessing to me and our whole family!
This isn’t all of my siblings. 😀
What is something you are Thankful for? How was your Thanksgiving?
Thank you for taking the time to read this! Have a wonderful week!
