Liebster Award #2, #3, #4

Hey Everyone!

I keep getting nominated for this award! It seems like maybe everyone is running out of bloggers to nominate? Not that I mind being nominated! I love answering fun questions about myself and what I love.

Thank you to Maysa, Olivia and Farmgirl for these nominations!

I’m really excited to answer all these questions, so let’s jump right in!

My Answers

1: What is something that you really enjoy doing?

Reading is still my favorite way to spend my free time. It is as natural and easy to me as breathing.

2: Do you have a pet peeve or something that you can’t stand?

It drives me crazy when my siblings don’t close their drawers or the kitchen cabinets. I’m not sure why but it does.

3: What was the last movie that you watched?

The first Hobbit movie. My siblings have already seen all three of them with my grandpa, but at the time I wasn’t interested, so now my dad and I are watching them for the first time. I am still surprised by how much I enjoyed the movie, because as a general rule I much prefer light-hearted movies to serious or intense ones.

4: Is there something that you feel like you just can’t live without?

CHOCOLATE, I intensely love chocolate and could almost live on it.

5: What is your favorite genre of music?

Christian music, I guess. That is most of what I listen to.

6: What is one piece of advice that you have for other bloggers based off of your personal experience?

Hmmm. I guess don’t try to write about things that you don’t enjoy and to be yourself as much as possible.

7: Would you be brave enough to jump out of a plane flying several thousand feet in the air without a parachute for someone you love? (considering it is for a good cause)

Yes, if it would save their lives, but if it wasn’t absolutely necessary I would not.

8: If you had all the Legos in the world to build with, what would you build first?

A life-sized aqua convertible. Not sure why, but I would.

9: What are your thoughts on lying? Lying is a sin, but do you think there is ever a time when it is right to lie? (Consider Jonathan and Rahab and the lies they told to help others in danger. Find as many Bible verses as you would like to support your answer)

Honestly, I am not sure. Yes and no, I guess.

10: Would you prefer having tea or coffee with talking red foxes or with talking deer?

I would love to have tea with talking red foxes.

11: What is one character flaw you hope will someday be a thing of the past with God’s help?

Probably how easily I get annoyed with my sisters.

12: If you were to go on one long journey from history, which journey would you make? (Example, with Columbus when he discovered America, or with Lewis and Clark on their expedition. Pick any journey or expedition from history.)

I would have wanted to go west with the pioneers. They were so brave take the risk of leaving everything they knew and loved to make a new life for themselves.

13: What is your favorite book of all time (besides the Bible)?

I really can’t choose. It’s like asking me if I have a favorite sibling (which I most definitely do not)!

14: What is one animal you dream of owning?

Someday, when have more time I would love to own a horse again.

15: Would you rather fill a journal with only drawings or fill a journal with only poems?

I would rather fill a journal with only drawings and doodles.

16: If you had everyone’s attention in the whole world and they promised to listen to you for one hour, what would you tell them?

That is so difficult to even imagine! The first thing I would tell would be that God loves them, no matter what you have done.

17: What inspired you to start blogging?

I first discovered WordPress through the blog Tween You And Me. I immediately loved the blogging community and slowly got more involved, it seemed natural to want a blog and when my parents said yes, I was thrilled!

18: What is your favorite instrument to listen to?

Pianos for sure.

19: What is your favorite sport to watch?

I am not really someone who enjoys watching sports, but I do love watching gymnastics and ice dancing.

20: What is your favorite season and why?

I think spring is my favorite season, although I do love summer as well. I love watching all the new life come forth.

21: What is your favorite flower?

My favorite flowers are lilacs and roses, I also love quince flowers.

Mini-Update

I know that I have been pretty much MIA for the past month and I am sorry. Life gets busy in the spring and I just needed a break. I will most likely be taking another couple week break in June, but I definitely want to keep blogging.

I am done with Weekly Verses for this school year, I will probably bring them back in the fall though. My thought for my summer posting schedule is that it will be more relaxed and probably only one post a week. I’ll keep you all updated though.

I’d love to hear how your May has been so far!! Did any of my answers to the questions surprise you? Feel free to answer any of the questions!

Spring Photos!!

Hey Everyone!

I am really excited to show you some of the pictures I have been taking. I am so so happy that spring is fully here! Everything is so green and beautiful. I love seeing all the new life springing up.

I have decided that spring is my favorite season. It is so beautiful and warm, but not hot. There aren’t the pesky flies and mosquitoes of summer but you still can enjoy the green grass and sunshine!

The lilac leaf buds are opening and growing constantly! It won’t be much longer until we have lilacs.

Forsythia is so bright and colorful. We have a rather wild hedge of it in front of our house.

The beautiful red maple full of buds.

Aren’t these red maple buds amazing!

More red maple buds, further along. Leaves are coming soon!

I am probably going to be posting another collection of spring photos soon, so be watching for it!

Which picture is your favorite? Did these springy pictures bring even a small smile to your face? What is you favorite part of spring?

Weekly Verse #29

Hey Everyone!

Happy Easter!!

It is finally spring here!! It was nice and warm outside (when it it wasn’t raining) all this past week. It is so wonderful to look out my window, when I wake up in the morning, and not see snow but bright green grass! I have been taking a bunch of pictures, but I decided to restrain myself and only share these. I hope they brighten your day as they did mine.

I love crocuses. They are so brave and bold to be the first flowers that come up!

The sharp points of the petals are so beautiful and I love the purple stem!

The contrast of the bright yellow pollen and the white petals is so strong and eye-catching.

Here is this week’s verse:

Colossians 1. 19,20

For in Jesus all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him God was pleased to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace through the blood of his cross.

It is so crazy to me that Lent and now Holy Week are over. In some ways it felt endless and in others it flew by. You know what I mean?

Which picture is your favorite of these? How is your spring going? Isn’t it crazy Lent is over?!

Spring Pictures and Life Update

Hey Everyone!

It was really springy feeling for a couple of days here and now it’s gray and chilly out, ugh. I just want it to be sunny and warm! Haven’t we earned it after a long and cold winter!?

Anyway! Here are some pictures for you to (hopefully) enjoy looking through!

I am really proud of how this picture turned out. ❤️

Spiky green grass coming up through the rocks. Spring……………..😀

For some reason I haven’t taken nearly enough sky pictures recently. Not sure why?

Adorable little plants. 💕

Doesn’t it look like a little flower!?

Lilac buds! I LOVE lilacs!

Mini Life Update

We are in the process of having a farm store built (they just started today)! It is really exciting because we have been selling our milk, cheese and meat out of our garage since we moved here. I will have to take some pictures of the contrast. 😀

School is going well, I guess. I am so looking forward to finishing though (who isn’t)! Just a couple more months and it will be summer vacation!

We had piglets born a week or so ago and another calf born. We also got our broiler chicks! I really need to take pictures of them soon.

I have been reading a lot recently, probably more then I should be. I just read Michelle Obama’s Becoming and loved it! I have also found several new authors that I really enjoy and have been inspired to write some mini-reviews, so keep your eye out for more book related posts from me!

My new favorite food is baked potatoes with melted cheese, salt and butter. I could almost live on them. I wish that I had started eating them at the beginning of the winter and not at the end.

Well, that’s all I have to share today. I hope you enjoyed my short and random little life update. I am thinking about doing monthly review and update posts like so many other bloggers do.

Which picture was your favorite? Any thoughts on my doing monthly update and review posts? What is your favorite spring flower?

Weekly Verse #27

Hey Everyone!

Spring is here, just barely, but it is still so exciting!!! I went and took some pictures earlier today and I want to share them with you. 😀

Parts of our yard are turning green, maybe tomorrow after the rain we are supposed to get, the whole yard will be green!

I love this bright yellow tipped leaf.

Isn’t amazing how the bright green makes even the old concrete look pretty?

They are so tiny still! I can’t wait for them to flower!

Even the weeds look beautiful after the long winter. Right?

Our verse for this week is:

Psalm 51.15,17

O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise. The sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

What is your favorite way to praise the Lord? Dancing, singing, praying out loud or something else?

Spring Goals 2019

Hey Everyone!

I love spring. Everything about it except for all the mud. I love watching everything come to life, seeing all the grass turn green, hearing the birds in the morning, again, all the beautiful new leaves, the warm breeze….I could go on and on.

Even though it is officially spring, here it still looks pretty much like winter, but the first signs of spring are emerging. Sadly I don’t have any springy pictures to share, but hopefully I will soon. 😀

Anyway, here are my spring goals!

(1) Go barefoot outside while the ground is still spongy and cold. I love how it feels and it is so freeing to finally go barefoot after the winter.

(2) Take more walks. I really enjoy going on walks, I’m just usually not motivated enough to get outside while it is still chilly outside.

(3) Stay consistently active on my blog. I love blogging, but sometimes I just can’t pull off a post. It always frustrates me. I am hoping I can stay active and stop getting annoyed with myself when I can’t or don’t post.

(4) Make homemade pasta. I’ve only done this once and it is a crazy amount of work, but so worth it!

(5) Finish school. I feel slightly behind, but I’m pretty confident I will be able to finish in June.

(6) Read and review at least three YA contemporary novels.

(7) Get back into the stretching every night.

(8) Take at least one picture everyday.

(9) Read my Bible more often.

(10) Work on writing about things that I am passionate about.

What are some of your spring goals? Have you ever made homemade pasta?

Weekly Verse #24

Hey Everyone!!

I took a walk earlier today and I was thrilled to see the first signs of spring. 😀

I love how all of these branches kind of tangle together! And you can see the brighter colored buds!

Tree buds (is that really what you call them?) are so beautiful and as I looked around I saw how different the different trees’ buds looked.

I love the tree bud pictures!

This tree is dead, but the bark is still so beautiful!

Our verse this week is:

Psalm 51.7, 8

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that you have crushed rejoice.

It is crazy to imagine being cleaner, whiter then snow and that we can be that clean!

Which picture is your favorite? Have you been seeing a signs of spring? What stands out you from this verse? Any prayer requests?

Treasuring Our Senses!

Hey Everyone!

Recently in my health class we were learning about our senses, a bit more in depth then what we all learned in kindergarten. I found it really interesting so I decided to write this post. (Also it makes my mom really happy that I am posting something I learned in school.) 😀

I am also including in this post some pictures that I took when I went on a snowy walk the other day.

SIGHT

I think that our sight is probably the most important sense. Almost everything we do uses our eyes in some capacity. We base so much off of what we see.

The thing that I found most interesting about our eyes was learning that we actually cry more then one type of tear! The make up of tears that we cry when in pain is different from when we cry emotional tears! Isn’t that amazing? I had no idea.

I know some people seem to feel better after crying (personally I don’t, but you might) and I was really surprised to learn that there is a reason that they feel better. The chemicals and hormones in tears actually make them feel better! After learning that I guess that I need to be more understanding of people in my life who cry much more frequently then I do.

The other thing that we talked about was the importance of guarding our eyes, being careful about what we watch, read and look at. My parents have always really stressed the importance of this, and I still forget sometimes. So I thought I would remind all of you as well! Be careful that you only use your eyes in ways that are pleasing to the Lord!!!

HEARING

Our ears are incredible and the things that our brains and ears work together to produce are wonderful. When you actually take a couple minutes to think about all the different sounds that you recognize, wind, rain, bells, footsteps, creaking, hearts beating, throats clearing, voices, the list just goes on and on, you will be blown away!! At least I know I was.

I learned that our ears have 20,000 fibers that are quite a bit like piano strings! A piano has only 80 strings and think about all the sounds it can make! With 20,000 strings the possibilities for sound are practically endless.

I think that we don’t appreciate our hearing like we should, we just take it for granted. Recently I have come to appreciate my hearing more after reading Eleanor’s recent posts. It made me think about what I would do if I lost my hearing and how I would react. Spending time thinking about this has made me admire Eleanor more and really reminded me how thankful I should be for my hearing.

So next time you are listening to music or just using your ears (I know we are constantly using our ears, but still), think of Eleanor and others who cannot hear and remember to be thankful for your hearing!!!

TASTE

I love food, absolutely love it. I love buying the things that go into it at farmers markets (whatever we don’t produce ourselves), I love cooking it and then I love enjoying it and watching my family enjoy it. I’m really not sure that life would be worth living without being able taste food, especially chocolate. 😀

I thought that it was really interesting that when you are born you have 10,000 taste buds! They decrease and condense as you get older.

As I am sure you have noticed, when you eat and are stressed or nervous or scared everything seems to taste the same. I was surprised to learn that your saliva changes when you are scared, stressed or nervous and that it blocks the openings to your taste buds!

I know that this only covers the first three senses, I am probably going to do apart two at some point.

I hope that you enjoyed reading this post as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Which sense do you think is the most important? Or do you think they are all equally important? If you could only pick one sense to keep which would it be? If you had to choose one sense to give up, what would it be?

Weekly Verse #23 and Icicle Pictures!

Hey Everyone!

I hope that you are all having a good week and staying warm! It is so cold here it makes me just want to curl up in a blanket with some hot passion tea and a good book, like one of the Keepers of The Lost Cities books. 😀

So pretty!
I love how the ice sparkles when the sunlight hits it!

Our verse for this week is:

Psalm 25. 4-6

Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth, and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all day long. Be mindful of your mercy, O LORD, and of your steadfast love, for they have been from of old.

For all of Lent my mom will be giving us lenten verses. We are lighting candles every night for part of what we are doing for Lent this year. I love candles so I am thrilled! At some point I will post pictures of the candles we are using. 😀 We are also fasting sugar and some technology. I’m not so thrilled about that!

Do you do anything for Lent?? If so, what?? Which picture do like the most? Are you fascinated by icicles like I am?

Photo Collab!!!

Hey Everyone!

I am really happy to (finally) share this photo collab with you! Without further ado…………………………………………………………………………………………………………..Here you go!

So how we did this was we (Lauren, Kaelyn and I) each came up with three topics and we had to either take or find pictures we had taken before for each topic. It was really fun to come up with each picture. 😀

Starting with my topics:

Winter: My winter has been full of snow so for winter I thought that it had to be a picture of snow.

Snowflakes:

Trees:

Kaelyn’s Topics:

Cooking/Baking:

Playground:

Fun: My brothers have so much fun on their mini-bike so I chose this picture.

Lauren’s Topics.

Animals: A picture of our beautiful dogs, from the summer!

Books: I’m not really a fan of how this picture turned out, but I’ve never tried taking pictures of books before. Maybe I just need more practice?

Cozy: I’m re-using my first BIBPC photo.

What did you think of this collab? Which picture is your favorite? Is there anything that you would like to have me post about? I’m open to suggestions!
